Abstract
Inpatient falls have the potential to seriously impact patient outcomes. As evidence of this safety risk, organizations spend a vast amount of time and resources in documenting, classifying, and understanding a fall incident. In addition to clerical initiatives, several quality improvement efforts coincide with the organizational imperative to mitigate the propensity of falls. We describe the application of a novel multifaceted fall mitigation program, its impact on organizational practices, and the applicability of targeted interventions on nursing scope and practice.
